The inaugural Sustainable Health and Care conference took take place on Wednesday 21 November 2018 at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham. It was followed by the Sustainable Health and Care awards and gala dinner.
It brought together sustainability professionals and champions from across the NHS, public sector and social care.
During the day delegates heard about, and discussed, how national strategies, new policies and emerging thinking are delivering triple bottom line benefits of sustainable development. They should have gained a better understanding about how meeting environmental targets and implementing best practice will maximise environmental, social and financial value.
They also learned how sustainability and social value are increasingly part of integration and collaboration in the development of Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STPs) and Integrated Care Systems (ICSs).
Experts from across the public and private sector delivered plenary and masterclass sessions, including Fiona Daly, NHS Improvement, Andrew Flett, NHS Property Services, David Rhodes, Public Health England, Pam Warhurst, Incredible Edible and Kim Leadbeater, The Jo Cox Foundation.
