NHS staff view - action and attitudes to sustainability

SHCC actions and attitudes

Our new briefing and infographic sets out the key findings from the research developed in partnership with Sustainable Development Unit (SDU).

The study examines the attitudes of NHS staff towards sustainable development. The research found that NHS staff believe in the need for, and value of, environmental sustainability. As the largest employer in the country, the study's findings show a clear mandate for the healthcare system to act.

Key findings

  • 98 per cent think it is important for the health and social care system to work in a way that supports the environment.
  • 71 per cent of staff feel that their employer encourages them to support the environment at work.
  • 95 per cent of staff understand that accessing green space has health and wellbeing benefits.

The infographic highlights the key findings from the SDU's workforce insight study and shows some of the financial benefits of sustainability action. Download and share the infographic with colleagues in your organisation.
